Team Up With S.T.E.M. Utah
We are pleased to announce the partnership between Utah Career Days and the Utah STEM Fest!
Event Location: Utah Valley University - UCCU Center in Orem
Event Date: March 25th - 28th, 2015
Expected Participation: 7th and 8th grade students statewide will be invited to participate all day Wednesday and Thursday and Friday morning. The event will be open to the public Friday evening and all day Saturday. It is anticipated that 24,000 students will attend during the week and include an additional 10-15,000 individuals from the community over Friday night and Saturday.
Our purpose is to bring students, families, educators and business leaders together to showcase future opportunities for youth in both education tracks and career opportunities that align with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) disciplines. This is a great opportunity to change the perception that jobs in construction, manufacturing, automotive and energy require little to no skills. These are not our grandfather's jobs!
- Attract kids, and their support groups, from all over Utah to attend and be exposed to the dynamic and exciting atmosphere around technology and science.
- To help kids connect with their passion for innovation and to spark their imaginations as they see, touch, feel and experience a wide range of exciting interactive exhibits
- Have kids and parents walk away with a new excitement about science, technology, engineering and math
- To help overcome objections about STEM: (too hard, uncool, incomprehensible, a boy's world)
